Limitations of cigars
Despite the economic benefits brought about by the cigar industry there are limitations that are and will eventually affect its growth. As the global is moving to more health awareness era; many lobby groups are campaigning for its total ban in the world. Many countries and states are restricting the smoking of cigars; no smoking in certain places as in public, no advertising, no sponsorships of events and other rules which are choking the industry’s revenue.
To be honest the youth or teenagers form a significant market for cigars as they ape their idols and try to actualize with them, but the anti smoking campaigns are specifically targeting them hence they are conscious of the danger of smoking cigars making them quit reducing the consumption.
The imposing of trade sanctions of certain cigars as the Cuban has denied the smokers the access to the worlds finest on top of curtailing the growth of the industry there. In other places as the Mid East and the Gulf where Sheria law is practiced the used of cigars and alcohol is banned thus reducing the market scope for the product. The best humidors are made in Spain but the access to most people is limited by the fact that heavy duties are levied on them. Over taxation of cigar products is a problem too.
If one is stopped by the police and the cigar accessories are found on them or in their car; he presumed to carry concealed weapons with intention of committing a crime. This has made many smokers especially the not so affluent ones to suffer a lot before they prove that is just cigar accessories than weapons. So there is wrong perception due to ignorance or hate.
